The Democratic National Convention Committee is a not-for-profit organization responsible for planning and executing the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, the week of September 3, 2012.
We are here in Charlotte because this is a dynamic, diverse, and vibrant community that reflects America in the 21st Century. The city has a lot to teach us about building a better future and rebuilding the economy in a way that creates opportunity. Leaders in Charlotte are doing what President Obama is doing across the country -- strengthening and diversifying through education, technology, research and development, innovation, and entrepreneurship to leverage middle class jobs. This convention isn't about political ritual or simply renominating the president, it's about Americans coming together to commit ourselves and our country to a path that creates more opportunity. Success depends on involvement at the grassroots, engaging the American spirit and enlisting people who want to put their shoulder to the wheel and change the country for the better.
From format to funding, we want to increase the influence of the grassroots and empower more Americans to become involved in the political process.
